Coming home from the hospital is so overwhelming. Not only are you suddenly without full-time medical support, but you’re also bringing home this tiny alien and you’re not totally sure what to do with it. Everything is confusing: Why are they crying? Are they hungry? Tired? Do they have a hair wrapped around their finger?Your algorithm is working overtime to feed you every arbitrary illness on the planet. And on top of all that—you’re also trying to recover yourself. The boobs, the vag, the messes. What gave me peace of mind every time (whether it was with my first, second, or third) was feeling prepared. I liked knowing that my space was set up in a way that made those early days just a little bit easier. One thing I always did? Set up the changing table & room the same way for all my kids. I love using the changing table/dresser combo—it makes it so easy to have all the clothes right there, plus drawers for the extras since I don’t want cluttering the top (even though it’s somewhat inevitable). In this post, I’m sharing my absolute essentials for coming home, and getting the room together tried and true with all the things I needed.
