Traveling with kids can be so tricky— especially if they’re between 1 and 2.5 years old. That age is peak chaos. They want to run up and down the aisles, explore every corner of the plane, and all you want is for them to sit the f down. Once they hit 3, something magical happens: you can put them in front of a screen and they check out. You might even get a moment to yourself, I pass out.

We’re not a big screen-time family—it might be controversial and I’m def not trying to brag — to each their own, but iPads are only for planes. When we’re not flying, they don’t exist. But on a flight? They’re it.

Just me & Benjamin, for three nights—and at 3.5 years old, he was a dream. I packed one suitcase (the Mia Mily ride-on one—I’m obsessed) and an LL Bean Backpack that my other sister, Lili, bought Benjamin for his first birthday, she thought it was kids size, it’s the largest backpack you’ve ever seen . That’s it. I honestly think it’s kind of chic. I was genuinely proud of how light I packed, and it made the commute so much smoother.
